Hifz-e-Quran refers to the complete memorization of the entire Holy Quran, all 114 Surahs comprising approximately 6,236 verses. The word “Hifz” means “preservation” or “protection,” and those who memorize the Quran are called “Hafiz” (male) or “Hafiza” (female), collectively known as “Huffaz.” This blessed practice has been the primary method of preserving Allah’s words since the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Adult learners balancing work and family usually take 4-7 years when dedicating 1-2 hours daily. The key factors are consistency, daily revision, and the number of new verses memorized per day. Some students memorize half a page daily and complete in 3 years, while others memorize one page daily and finish sooner. Your instructor will help establish a realistic, personalized timeline based on your circumstances and goals.
It's never too late! While children often have more flexible schedules and faster memorization, adults bring stronger motivation, discipline, and understanding to their Hifz journey. Many adults successfully complete Hifz in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and beyond. Adults may need more revision and repetition, but their emotional and spiritual connection often makes memorization more meaningful. Sabaq refers to the new portion you're currently memorizing, typically a few lines or verses each day. Manzil (or Sabaq Para) is the systematic revision of what you've already memorized to prevent forgetting. A balanced Hifz program includes daily Sabaq (new memorization), Sabaq Para (recent memorization from the past weeks), and Manzil (older memorization). Our instructors structure your lessons to include all three components, ensuring that as you move forward with new verses, your previous memorization remains strong and doesn't fade.
Yes, proper Tajweed is essential before beginning Hifz. Memorizing with incorrect pronunciation makes it extremely difficult to correct later and can compromise the accuracy of your memorization. We strongly recommend completing a Tajweed course or at least achieving proficient recitation skills before starting Hifz. If you're not confident in your Tajweed, our instructors can assess your level and either provide Tajweed training first or incorporate Tajweed correction alongside early memorization. Remember, the goal is to memorize correctly from the start.
